Air Quality Monitors
I spent some time researching consumer grade Air Quality Monitors and everything pointed at the sensor being the most important part and that a laser sensor was the way to go. Before buying a monitor it’s worth checking out the monitors that AQMD tested before purchasing yours. I had already bought my TemTop P600 before I found that page.

I love this monitor because it allowed me to test filters and not have to be in the room to take a reading. It also records so I was able to set up a test and just let it run and look at the data later

Another thing I love about this filter is the alarm feature. We recently purcashed a cast iron skillet and my wife decided to season it. I had no idea anything was happening until I got an alarm saying the air quality was bad. I checked and everything was green so I went out of my room to investigate. This is when I found out we were seasoning a skillet and the air was bad enough that I was choking.

Temtop P600
My main objective when start out was to see relative changes in PM2.5 levels. I did a bit of research and settled on the TemTop P600. I really like the monitor but I had a lot of issues initially. I eventually got a good one and customer support was excellent. Even though my initial experience was bad I really like this monitor and use it a lot.
One feature I take advantage of with the TemTop P600 is that it will continue for hours if it’s on charge. It sits on my desk on most of the day. My undertstanding with laser monitors is that this will eventually wear them out over a few years but at the price I don’t care.
Note. The reading of “Good” 27µg/m³ is wrong on the image below is wrong. The USA standard ie 12µg/m³. This was one of the issues I had with TemTop when they sent me out an old monitor as a replacement for one that locked up.
